Keeping Sane
"What kept me sane was knowing that things would change, and it was a question of keeping myself together until they did."

The current dismal certainties and impossibly stressful uncertainties, especially for marginalized communities like ours, weigh heavily on millions of us. In these moments, I look to the wisdom of those who came before us - people who faced equal or even far greater challenges. How did they make it through? I often find my answers in the wise words of women of color who overcame seemingly insurmountable obstacles and still persevered. I remind myself, “If Nina Simone could keep going, it can be done.” Things will change - they always do - and our resilience will ensure we’re here to see it. Until then, we owe it to ourselves and each other to keep moving forward.
