The Seed & The (Easter) Egg
"Community is a place where the connections felt in our hearts make themselves known in the bonds between people, and where the tuggings and pullings of those bonds keep opening our hearts."

Easter Sunday in Dolores Park, San Francisco, is when the world-renowned Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence - a trailblazing order of Queer and trans nuns - host the most glorious and joyful celebration of the year. The feeling of community, connection, and joy was so powerful at this event one Easter that it planted the seed for Joyful Queer, the blog/newsletter you’re reading right now! The Sisters’ mission is “to promulgate universal joy,” and Joyful Queer is my way of amplifying the joy they bring me and sharing it with as many people as possible, especially those who don’t have access to the kind of Queer community we enjoy here in San Francisco. Community and connections like these are what make me a Joyful Queer!
